Howard Street Children's Centre

Children's Centres provide children up to 5 years old and their families with a range of services and information.

We help your child develop through a range of different play activities and also to provide the opportunity for you to attend groups and courses at the centre. We are linked to other local services such as the Family Information Service, NHS and Job Centre Plus and you can access help from professionals including midwives, health visitors and the family learning team.

Monday

Baby Messy Play 10am – 11.30am

A fun and exciting session for babies under 12 months to explore all areas of play and learning opportunities in our early year’s environment. Come along and enjoy our sensory activities.

Play and Learn 1pm – 3pm

Drop in session full of fun and excitement for toddlers to come and explore all areas of play and learning opportunities in our Early Years environment. Suitable for children aged 0-5 years old. 

Bump to Baby 1.30pm – 2.30pm

A 3 week programme for parents to be, including help to prepare for a new baby, explores the physical and emotional feelings after having a baby and also developing an emotional attachment with your baby. Also giving information on feeding, safety and preparation of the home environment. No need to book on just drop in.

 

Tuesday

Midwife Clinic 9am – 4pm

Environmental Walk 1.30pm – 2.15pm

Explore the great outdoors, road safety and nature on your door step.

 

Thursday

Messy Play 10.30am - 12pm

It fosters curiosity, imagination and exploration. Encourages communication and language development. Practices good communication and language development. Practices good concentration and nurtures future skills. Promotes physical development. Supports the ability to play independently. Suitable for over 1 years old.

Family Language 1pm – 3pm

Crèche available. Contact us to book onto the session.

 

Friday 

Boogie Beats 10.30am – 12pm

Drop in session includes music and movement classes are energetic and fun, combining music and dance with carefully structured learning. These sessions help children to develop confidence, coordination and social skills whilst they learn to express themselves in a friendly and relaxed environment. Suitable for children aged 0–5 years.
