HEALTHY EATING

At Howard Street Nursery we enjoy a range of healthy snacks. Examples include:

  • Milk and water.
  • Fruits and vegetables e.g. apples, bananas, pears, oranges, carrots and cucumber.
  • Bread sticks, crackers, crispbreads or malt loaf with butter and/or hummus.

Snack time is an opportunity to develop social skills around mealtimes. The Nursery receives no Government subsidies towards our snack provision and we are very grateful for contributions towards our school fund which will help contribute towards other things such as:

  • Birthday gifts.
  • Cultural celebrations (Christmas/Eid).
  • Baking.
  • Visits from outside companies.

We are committed to supporting our families in achieving the very best outcomes for healthy lifestyles and follow the 'Golden Grin' scheme. We respectfully request that children do not bring sweets, chocolate, cake, crisps to nursery.

We are aware that in the past, in the event of it being a child's birthday, parents/carers have liked to bring in a cake or party bags that include sweets or chocolate. Unfortunately, we are not able to give these out and politely request that parents/carers refrain from sending them into nursery.

If you would like more information on healthy eating for your child, please see the guide below.
