SAFEGUARDING

At our nursery school, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our top priority. We are committed to creating a caring, nurturing, and safe environment where children can learn, play, and grow.

All staff are trained to recognise and respond to any concerns about a child’s welfare and we work closely with families and external agencies to ensure children are protected from harm.

We follow strict safeguarding policies and procedures,in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education statutory guidance which can be found here

If you have any concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing, please speak to a member of staff or contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) immediately.

Designated Safeguarding Leads are:

Mrs L Walsh - Headteacher (DSL)

Mrs K Crossman - EYFS Lead (DDSL)

Mrs R Burke - Class Teacher & SENDCo (DDSL)

Ms H Birds - Pastoral Officer (DDSL)

What Do I Do if YOU ARE Worried About a Child?

If you become concerned about something you have seen at nursery or something a child says to you, you must inform one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads, who will take appropriate action.

EARLY HELP

Early Help is support available to children, young people and families to help with a wide range of issues before they become more serious. It is available to families with children up to age 19 (up to 25 if the young person has SEND). If you think your family could benefit from early help support, you can speak to a professional who knows you already (for example, your key worker, health visitor, children’s centre staff or nursery staff), or you can contact the local Early Help team directly by visiting their website here.

OPERATION ENCOMPASS

As part of our commitment to keeping children safe, we are proud to be part of Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass is a Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership, which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse.

Being part of this project means our nursery will receive a notification from Greater Manchester Police before the start of the next school day when a child has been involved in or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous day. When incidents occur on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, the Police will contact on the following Monday.

If you have any questions or wish to know more about our involvement in Operation Encompass, please do not hesitate to contact any of the above staff.
