At our nursery, we believe that every child is special and deserves to feel happy, safe and included.
Our School SEND Co-Ordinator (SENDCo) is Mrs Burke and her role is to support children who may need a little extra help with their learning or development. If a child requires additional support, we aim to work together with families to plan the right support, using gentle, play-based approaches that fit naturally into nursery life. By observing children carefully and listening to families, we aim to identify needs early and provide this support in a positive and nurturing way. When needed, we also work alongside outside professionals.
Special Educational Needs Information, Advice and Support Support Service (SENDIASS)
SENDIASS provides free, impartial and confidential information and advice for children and young people aged 0–25, and their parents or carers where a child or young person has, or may have special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). You can visit their website here.
Changes in How Children and Young People are Reviewed and Assessed for Autism and ADHD in Greater Manchester
NHS Greater Manchester (GM) is making changes to the way children and young people aged 0 to 18 are reviewed and assessed for suspected autism and ADHD. This is to make sure support is offered earlier based on a child or young person’s individual need and that those with highest need can be seen sooner.
